But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.»
Matthew 5:44-45 is a Bible passage found in the Sermon on the Mount, delivered by Jesus. In these verses, Jesus speaks about how the followers of God should be. Instead of hating their enemies, Jesus tells them to love their enemies, bless those who curse them, do good to those who hate them, and pray for those who persecute and mistreat them.
Jesus explains that by doing this, they will become children of their heavenly Father, who makes the sun rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust. In other words, Jesus teaches that we are all equal in the eyes of God and that we should love and treat everyone well, even those who harm us. By doing so, we are following God’s example and demonstrating our devotion to Him.
